It is in Terbol, a village in the Bekaa plain, that our National Heritage Foundation team, under the patronage of its president Mona Hraoui, rehabilitated a mud brick or earthen house of traditional vernacular architecture.

The owners, the Rami family, agreed in 2003 to rent it for 15 years, so that a committee of professional volunteers could begin rebuilding it to give new life to this house and to the create an Ecomuseum.

Mr. Nehmeh Saghbini donated the traditional farming tools to the Museum.

Purpose

  1. Safeguard the architecture of an earthen houses and raise awareness about their conservation to local residents and visitors.
  2. Organize workshops on the architecture of earthen houses for Lebanese students interested in this type of architecture.
  3. Organize exhibitions and events to enliven the region.
  4. Create a museum shop selling regional products to encourage local artisans and generate revenue that benefits the museum and the village.
